As part of the OceanPredict’24, a photo exhibition will be held from 28 October to 31 December 2024 on the gates of the UNESCO headquarters in Paris. This exhibition aims to illustrate how ocean observation and prediction are essential to protect the ocean, foster a more responsible and sustainable use of its precious resources.
The images build on the itinerant exhibition “Our Ocean From Space”, bringing in the ocean prediction component by showcasing modelled data visualisations of the ocean’s past, current and future state.
Inaugurated at the Ocean Decade conference in April 2024, Our Ocean from Space comprises stunning Earth observation satellite images accompanied by interviews with scientific experts, local decision makers and coastal stakeholders to explore current efforts to protect our valuable marine ecosystems. Nine themes are covered including ecosystems, threats, shape, ice, ocean warming, motion, future and traffic.
Organised by TimKat, this step of the exhibition is supported by IOC UNESCO and Mercator Ocean International with funding from the European Union through the EU4OceanObs project. Images and digital content come from ESA, Copernicus, Mercator Ocean International, CMCC, MSRO, among others.
