About
Dr. Larry Gulliver, born and raised in Western New York, embarked on a distinguished 22-year career in the United States Navy in 1999, specializing as an Oceanographer for 14 years. Throughout his service, he completed four deployments and five sea-tours, visiting over 43 countries including exchange tour as a hydrographic officer with the British Royal Navy. Dr. Gulliver earned his BS in Marine Environmental Science from the State University of New York Maritime College in 2006, followed by an MS in Oceanography and Meteorology in 2017 and a PhD in Physical Oceanography in 2022, both from the Naval Postgraduate School. He currently serves as an NRC Post-Doctoral Research Associate at the Naval Research Laboratory at Stennis Space Center, where his research focuses on tidal influences on upwelling and other secondary flows in the East China and Yellow Seas. Dr. Gulliver has been published as author or co-author in four scholarly journals, including Journal of Physical Oceanography. He is currently engaged to Ninesie Diaz and is a proud father to four boys: Kyle, Nathan, Gabby, and Liam.
