I am Dr. Mohan Kumar Das, a practitioner in Physical Sciences, Numerical Modelling, Satellite Technology, Climate Science, and Data Analytics. I hold the prestigious position of Scientist at the National Oceanographic and Maritime Institute (NOAMI) in Bangladesh. Concurrently, I serve as Adjunct Faculty in the Department of Meteorology at the University of Dhaka, contributing substantially to the academic landscape in Atmospheric and Oceanic Sciences.
My professional journey encompasses key roles in renowned institutions such as the Bangladesh Meteorological Department (BMD), the SAARC Meteorological Research Centre (SMRC), and The Regional Integrated Multi-Hazard Early Warning System for Africa and Asia (RIMES) in Bangkok, Thailand. Through these roles, I have engaged in impactful research and consultancy for World Bank-funded projects, significantly advancing numerical models and optimizing weather observation instruments.
I actively contribute to the scientific community as the Joint Secretary of the South Asian Meteorological Association (SAMA). My work highlights the crucial role of accurate predictions in fostering sustainable practices and building resilient communities.
My leadership and commitment to scientific innovation position me at the forefront of progress in meteorology and ocean science. Driven by a passion for pushing the boundaries of scientific knowledge, I continue to contribute to the advancement of understanding and developing solutions for the challenges posed by climate and ocean dynamics.
